Sarah Silbert
Sarah
Silbert’s law practice focuses on trademark enforcement and brand protection
counseling and litigating trademark infringement, false advertising and
unfair competition claims. She has handled national and international
trademark enforcement work for major Internet-based corporations and leading
companies in the telecommunications and consumer products and services
industries. Ms. Silbert’s experience includes copyright infringement,
cybersquatting, trademark and trade dress infringement and dilution cases,
inter partes actions before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and
misappropriation of trade secret and right of publicity matters.
Ms. Silbert was named a “Rising Star” in intellectual
property by Southern California Super Lawyers
each year from 2004 through
2007. In 2007, she completed
the Trial Advocacy Project training of the Los Angeles County Bar and a
one-month practicum as assistant city prosecutor for the Long Beach City
Prosecutor’s Office. As temporary assistant city prosecutor, Ms. Silbert
tried two jury cases and received a commendation for exemplary service.
Before joining Berliner & Associates, Ms.
Silbert practiced at the international general law firms of Fulbright &
Jaworski L.L.P. and Jones Day. Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Silbert
worked in the magazine publishing and advertising industries.
UDRP
Ms. Silbert has
filed over 20 complaints pursuant to Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution
Policy, resulting in transfer of disputed domain names to client on whose
behalf complaint was filed.
APPELLATE MATTERS
Ms. Silbert was the primary
author of successful appellate briefs in intellectual property matters
before the Second, Fifth, Ninth and Federal Circuits.
TRADEMARK PROSECUTION
In addition to her expertise in
intellectual property litigation and appellate matters,
Ms. Silbert has prosecuted, maintained and managed her clients’ United
States and international trademark portfolios.
OTHER PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Ms.
Silbert is an active member of the Los Angeles Intellectual Property
American Inn of Court. She was a member of the International Trademark
Association (INTA) Proof of Confusion Subcommittee from 2006-2009, and of
the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Barristers Executive Committee from
2007-2008.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Ms. Silbert received a B.A. in psychology in 1989 from the
University of California, Santa Cruz, an M.B.A. with concentrations in
marketing and international business in 1991 from the Columbia University
Graduate School of Business, and a J.D. in 1998 from the University of
California, Berkeley, School of Law (Boalt Hall).
